The Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians is a professional medical society dedicated to maintaining high standards of family medicine representing 600 family physicians, residents and medical students. CAFP provides members with practice-based support, education, government relations and public relations services. We advocate for family physicians and their patients while working to recruit more family physicians to care for patients across Connecticut. |

Family Physician: The family physician is a physician who is educated and trained in family medicine - a broadly encompassing medical specialty. Family physicians provide continuing and comprehensive medical care, health maintenance and preventive services to each member of the familiy regardless of sex, age or type of problem. These specialists are best qualified to serve as each patient's advocate in all health-related matters, including the appropriate use of consultants, health services and community resources. |
