UConn Casting and Splinting Workshop

On Monday, December 13, 2010, the University of Connecticut School of Medicine Family Medicine Interest Group held a Casting Workshop led by Dr. Diana Heiman, Associate Sports Medicine Fellowship Director, and Dr. Kerri Fratteringo, Sports Medicine Fellow.  Fifteen students attended the event where they learned to make a variety of splints and casts.  Students had the opportunity to practice applying casts and experience having a cast put on.  The students had a great time and were thrilled to have learned a skill that is not traditionally a part of their medical education.  The casting materials were generously provided by 3M.
